My Journey to Midjourney: How I Wanted to Generate AI Image.

Introduction
Ok. MidJourney is not free nowadays. So, I was searching for alternatives. I picked 3 platforms.
The Task:
I was looking for the AIÂ image for my post on a hobby site titled “Slide Guitar Techniques”.
I was picturing the image of the hands of the player over the acoustic guitar. With the brass slide on the left pinky. That’s all.
Nothing too fancy. Right?
Wrong!
It appears to be an unimaginable task for all three platforms.
Prompt to Generate an AI Image
After several tries, I came up with the following prompt:
“Please generate an image of the Person playing with the slide on the acoustic guitar. I need only the hands of the person who plays in this image. The brass slide is on the pinky finger of the left hand.”
Maybe there are some experts who can analyze it and tell what might be wrong with this prompt.
Anyway, here is what I’ve got in the result.

Right hand:
I tried and I was never able to put my pinky this way over other fingers!
Why is another smaller guitar attached to the main instrument?
Where is the slide?
This AI image has nothing wrong concerning the fingers. Except for the fact of a missing pinky on the left hand. But:
- Is it 2 guitar bodies? Maybe that’s how the OpenArt takes the word “Slide”?
- There’s some mess with the strings.
- The neck looks too long and like combined from two different sources. At least it looks not straight.
- Where is the slide?
Ok. Let’s continue.
Aitubo AI Image
This one is too scary. No comments. And where is the slide?
Strangely, Aittubo is capable of generating beautiful images in portrait style.
ImagineArt AI Images
I wish I’d be a 6-finger guitarist, on both hands. Kidding.
- The upper string ends where the neck ends flying in the air.
- The guitar body on the top of the image is thicker than the one below.
- And where’s in the world the god damned slide?!
Another scary one AI image. Why the right hand is used to tap on the frets also?
The uncertain amount of strings and frets.
Deformed guitar body.
The player appears to be another Django Reinhardt but of the opposite type. Only ring and pinky fingers appear on his left hand.
And again where is the slide?
Solution
Guess what?
To take your iPhone and to take a picture of myself appeared to be the fastest and easiest solution.
Conclusion
The current AI generators (at least the free ones) are not able to deliver exactly what you are looking for. They are not precise enough in detail. And it looks like they have no idea what the slide in conjunction with the guitars is.
I don’t want to blame or carp. But it appears that I cannot use them for my needs.
Or maybe I’m wrong? Maybe my skills as a prompt engineer suck? Are there any experts who can suggest a better prompt approach?
